Sheila Lirio Marcelo

Sheila joined NEA in 2021 as a Venture Partner focusing on consumer technology and commerce. Prior to NEA, she was founder and former CEO and Chairwoman of Care.com, the world’s largest online destination for finding and managing family care. Under Shelia’s leadership, Care.com became the world’s largest marketplace for care, serving more than 35 million people across 20 countries and growing more than 100% year-over-year from its founding in 2006 until the company went public in 2014.

Prior to founding Care.com, Shelia was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Matrix Partners and served as VP of Product Management and Marketing at Upromise. She is also co-founder of LandIt, a digital platform for female career growth. Sheila has been honored with numerous accolades, including being named one of the "Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs" at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit and in Fortune Magazine. She has been inducted into the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s Academy of Distinguished Bostonians and received one of the highest honors for Filipinos, the Filipino Heritage Award or Pamana ng Pilipino from President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines.

She is a Henry Crown Fellow with the Aspen Institute, a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, was awarded a Marshall Memorial Fellowship, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She also serves as a Board Trustee of the Philippine Development Foundation, a non-profit organization that works with the Philippine government on education, innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives. A frequent speaker on women in technology and female entrepreneurship and leadership, Sheila has spoken at the White House United State of Women, at the White House Summit on Working Families alongside President Obama, and with global political and business leaders over numerous years at The World Economic Forum

Shelia graduated from Mount Holyoke College, which also conferred upon her an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 2015. She received her J.D. and M.B.A. degrees with honors from Harvard University and, in 2014, was the youngest recipient of the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award.
