NEA started nearly 40 years ago with a big idea: to create an enduring venture capital firm that would help exceptional entrepreneurs build transformational businesses.

From 16 Million to 3 Billion

We’ve helped entrepreneurs build great companies for almost four decades. Our first investment fund had just $16 million of capital. Now, as one of the world’s largest venture capital firms, we have more than $20 billion in committed capital across 16 funds, including a $3.3 billion fund that closed in 2017.

Meet Our Founders

Our founders believed that successful long-term investors must be nimble, able to select best-of-breed deals and allocate capital in the right place and at the right time.They believed in rolling up their sleeves to help entrepreneurs build successful companies.

In 1977, this meant founding the industry’s first truly bi-coastal firm, enabling NEA to find the best opportunities at the source of innovation, whether east or west coast, and to build a vast network of resources and expertise.

2018 marked 40 years of partnering with innovative entrepreneurs to advance the way we work, live, and play. We celebrated with a look back and a look to the future...40/Forward.
